Mr. Rutkowski joined Conklin Benham, P.C. as an associate attorney in February of 2016. He specializes in workers’ compensation defense, representing both self-insured employers and insurance companies.
Mr. Rutkowski graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus with Distinction in 2007, having completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Political Science and Classical Civilizations. He graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 2010, where he was honored as a Dean’s Scholar and Lombard Fellow. He was also appointed a Moot Court Executive Board Member and clerked for the University’s Small Business Enterprises and Non-profit Corporations Clinic.
While in law school, Mr. Rutkowski served as a judicial intern for Judge Diane D’Agostini. He then clerked for a private law firm, Dawda, Mann, Mulcahy & Sadler, PLC, providing research and writing support for their litigation and transactional departments in real estate, land use, bankruptcy, taxation, and corporate law. He also assisted the appellate department in drafting amicus briefs submitted to the Michigan Supreme Court.
Following law school and admittance to the State Bar of Michigan in 2011, Mr. Rutkowski joined the firm of Lacey & Jones, LLP, where he focused his practice on workers’ compensation defense. He subsequently secured a positon as in-house counsel for a major insurance company handling their workers’ compensation matters state-wide.
Mr. Rutkowski is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and Workers' Compensation Section. He is also a member of the Michigan Self-Insurers' Association.
