Michael S. Brenton

Prior to joining Conklin Benham, Mike Brenton was President and founding shareholder of Brenton Law Group P.C. He has a long and successful history defending workers’ compensation claims throughout Michigan, representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, and self-insured funds. He has also represented the State of Michigan and State Funds as a Special Assistant Attorney General since 1994.

Mr. Brenton completed his bachelor’s degree with high honors from Michigan State University and went on to earn his J.D from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Mr. Brenton is a member and past chairperson of the State Bar of Michigan, Workers’ Compensation section. He is a certified Civil Mediator, completing ICLE Advanced Negotiation and Dispute Resolution training, and has served as an adjunct member of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board.

He is an active member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves as a committee member on the Health and Human Resources Committee. Mr. Brenton previously served as the Michigan workers’ compensation liaison for the Defense Research Institute.

Mr. Brenton has received numerous professional and peers nominations supporting his commitment as a workers’ compensation attorney, including Best Lawyers in America, U.S. News Best Law Firms in America, Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, Leading Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory–AV Rated, Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, and Michigan Super Lawyers.

His passion for the Michigan wine industry was recognized in 2014 when he was appointed by Governor Snyder to be one of the two public representatives on the Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Council, where he served two terms advocating for the development of the Michigan wine industry. He is a co-owner of a Northern Michigan winery, and for several years, was also the wine columnist for Lansing City Pulse Magazine.
